DRAMA CLASSES 2012

VERSE SPEAKING

GROUP SPEAKING
Group Speaking is not restricted to school entries but is open to other groups of equivalent ages.

LIGHT VERSE
PROSE SPEAKING
NARRATIVE PROSE READING

performers to read aloud a passage, chosen by the Adjudicator, from the prepared chapters.

BIBLE READING
In Classes 39-43 inclusive, performers are to read a passage selected by the Adjudicator from the following Test Pieces.
NOTE : The Federation of Festivals prefers all bible readings to be taken from the Authorised Version of the Bible.
We have, however, decided to accept readings from either the A.V., the New International Version or the Jerusalem Bible.
All performers must read from a book and not a sheet.

SIGHT READING
In Classes 44, 45 and 46 performers are to read a piece of prose and verse selected by the Adjudicator.

DRAMATIC SELECTION (INDIVIDUAL)
In Classes 47, 48, 49 and 50 performers should present a dramatised extract from a published work and not a sketch or monologue.
Details on entry form and copy for Adjudicator essential.

DRAMATIC DUOLOGUE
(Not covered by A.L. & C.S. agreement)
In Classes 51, 52 and 53 performers should present a dramatised extract from a published work and not a sketch.
Prompting will be by an official steward only.
Time limit 5 minutes. Details on entry form and copy for Adjudicator essential.

DRAMATIC GROUP
(Not covered by A.L. & C.S. agreement)
Classes 55 and 56 are not restricted to school entries but are open to groups of equivalent ages (no fewer than 3 in any group).
No competitor should be a member of more than one group.
A maximum of 5 minutes for setting and striking is allowed.
Full details of selection and exact duration to be stated on entry form.
Please provide a copy for the Adjudicator on the day before the relevant session.

PREPARED SPEECH

SHAKESPEAREAN GROUP

THEME

Classes 59 and 60 are open to groups of no fewer than 3.
Each group is to develop a theme of its own choice using at least three of the following:
Verse Speaking,
Choral Speaking,
Improvisation,
Mime and Drama

Unless 'reading' is specified, work should be memorised.
In 'Own Choice' classes performers are required to give full details of selection on entry form.
Copy to be provided for the Adjudicator on the day unless otherwise stated.
