Adjudicators 2012

Speech & Drama

Susan Mackay ALAM, LLAM, DDA
For 10 years, Susan ran the Fylde Stage School teaching all levels of RAD and ISTD dance and LAMDA before continuing her training at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. After seasons in Repertory Theatre, Touring and TV, she decided that it was time to realise other dreams.
Susan now directs Upstage Drama covering all aspects of speech and drama to LAMDA standards, GCSE Drama and Young People’s Theatre. She also teaches performance skills to all ages.
The teaching and performance of Shakespeare prompts her strongest opinions. This is closely followed by the belief that of all the words spoken and written about speech and drama, fun and enjoyment are the most important.
She sees her rôle as an Adjudicator as a combination of bringing new ideas to text and performance as well as fresh encouragement to every participant. She feels that everyone should leave a Festival with a sense of achievement.
